I paid the $25 fee and have to ability to upload my own applications to the Android Marketplace I am very excited about it. I’ve been playing with the Android SDK for some time now and I’m finally going to start developing real applications and use them on my phone!

My first project will be a Flickr photo uploader. Android lacks the ability to send your photos to Picasa or Flickr (or any 3rd app from the Marketplace). There are some Flickr clients on there but they lack the most basic feature, to upload your photos to your Flickr account!

I haven’t come up with a name for the app yet (I’m terrible at naming things). I will keep you guys posted about the progress!

ASP.NET MVC

ASP.NET MVC looks promising. IronPython + ASP.NET work nicely together with future plans for to support IronRuby. I wouldn’t have hated .NET so much if .NET 3.5 and ASP.NET MVC was out then. :/

Cal Henderson's talk at DjangoCon 08

haha, after watching Cal Henderson talk shit about the Python web framework, Django at the DjangoCon mind you, I must say he knows his shit. One could learn a lot from him. I know that this conference was a couple of weeks ago, however I still enjoyed it.

I think It’s good that he mentioned some of the flaws in the framework. He uses the framework for some of his projects (Pownce) so it’s not like he’s talking out of his ass. Not every framework is perfect and he made damn sure that this was known! :P

Anyway, most of issue he talked about were scaling and infrastructure related such as the support for different database clusters. I wish he’d would have talked about frameworks he likes and recommends but I guess he didn’t want to advertise anything or start a flamewar. Instead, he kept comparing Django to the Flickr’s internal “Flamework”, as he calls it.

Also, in his talk, Cal mentions that Rails developers are the most arrogant people, which I find both funny and true! Great presentation.

As for a personally note, I think whatever the team is the most productive in and the best tool for the job. I keep both of these things in mind when starting a fresh project!
